Just who do we think
we are? We're bunch of over worked, underpaid people from the heartland of Iowa.
Educated, opinionated and an unquenchable thirst for knowledge. Exploring the
world of music is a top priority, however nothing will be beyond the scope.
Being from the Midwest, one can easily grow large and complacent with the surroundings
forgetting that something lies beyond work, sleep and reality TV. We'll be shining
a light on the talent of God's country in the hopes that the mountains blocking
our path to the outside world become much smaller. Lots to offer around these
parts: Nightlife, live music, art, science, sports, you name it.
For the most part, we're looking to satisfy the strange, unexplainable urge
to massage our gray matter and glimpse at the fine line that is truth and bullshit.
Oh yeah, that was an explicative. We won't encourage it but we won't stop it
(within reason), free speech is the right of all I personally don't believe
in empowering a single word to ruin my psyche for the day. They're just words.
This brings me to the last and most important thing about this site. You. If
I say 'shit' and it offends you, you will be able to tell me so. We encourage
participation from everyone.
The winter and spring months typically bore the living hell out of me. They start out with numerous projects and activities that can be accomplished without leaving the house but eventually the dedication subsides and boredom sets in. For me, this is not a good idea at all.
Of all of the horror movies that I have seen as of late, none of them have been truly horror. Yes, there was suspense, there was blood but there were no menacing creatures that were willing to rip the throat out of a 10 year old boy on a whim… until now. Honestly, as much as I have enjoyed the Hostel and Saw series, it was all man made and boring. A true horror movie is something that you don’t see everyday. Something that makes you look over your shoulder… something that goes bump in the night. The world is fucked up enough, I need the supernatural.
I realized recently that I don't attend any where near the number of concerts
I used to. How frickin' boring of me but hey... work, house, old age
and an all new surge of boring bands that play the same style of music has forced
me into a more perfunctory mood. Another factor is my location. Here in the center
of Iowa, we don't get a ton of quality shows so the only real options for
my fickle musical palette are generally no where near here. Needless to say, when at
the last minute I was told by the wife that I had an opportunity to road trip to see
one Tori Amos, I all but shat myself.
